Hampton Roads Christian Counselor Tracey Crawley Tracey R. Crawley, M.Ed., RN, LPC, LMFT

Tracey Crawley began her first career in her home state of Ohio as a registered nurse, and later, an Air Force nurse. She earned her master’s degree at the College of Idaho while accompanying her husband through his military career, and later completed her graduate studies in counseling for licensure after settling in Virginia. Prior to joining Genesis, she counseled individuals and couples at a military counseling center in Hampton Roads. Tracey has a strong skill set to educate adults in stress and anger management, couple and relationship skills, and parenting techniques. She makes use of her nursing, counseling and spiritual experiences to provide a balanced, holistic approach to clinical work.

Specific focus areas of Tracey’s practice include: premarital and marital counseling using the PREPARE/ENRICH relationship inventory (www.prepare-enrich.com); communication and relationship skills enhancement for couples; counseling for infidelity, abuse, separation and divorce recovery; successful counsel for remarriage and blended family living; developing parenting skills; resolving sex and intimacy issues; coping with financial concerns; and help to deal with a myriad of family issues. The Enrich inventory may also be used in couple therapy or to prepare couples to become parents through childbirth or adoption. Tracey also provides counseling services to adolescents in the context of family issues and family counseling, or for school and developmental concerns. General counseling areas includes issues related to anger, stress, depression, anxiety, loss and grief, adjustment, generational issues (adult children, aging parents, grand parenting), and military lifestyle concerns.

Tracey has been active in church ministry throughout her 32 years of marriage, and became passionate about helping marriages thrive in 1998 by way of providing marriage education classes and premarital programs in the community. She and her husband have two grown children. She endeavors to integrate a Biblical perspective in her work, having completed an Advanced Certificate in Biblical Counseling.

Premarital Counseling Package:

Tracey Crawley, LMFT, offers premarital counseling for never-married, remarriage, and step couples using the PREPARE inventory. Once the online assessment is complete, premarital couples participate in nine or more hours of feedback, education, and counseling. Interested couples may be scheduled for a 45-minute assessment and screening interview.

PREPARE/ENRICH is a customized couple relationship inventory and assessment tool for premarital counseling, marriage enrichment, couple therapy, marriage mentoring, and marriage education. It is also utilized to screen prospective mentor couples and prospective adoptive couples. Completed on-line, the inventory is one of the most widely used instruments for premarital counseling and education. Based on the results of the inventory, a trained facilitator/counselor provides feedback in which the facilitator helps the couple to discuss and understand their assessment results as they are taught proven relationship skills.

The program helps couples:

  • Explore strength and growth areas
  • Strengthen communication skills
  • Identify and manage major stressors
  • Resolve conflict using the Ten Step Model
  • Develop a more balanced relationship
  • Explore family of origin issues
  • Discuss financial planning and budgeting
  • Establish personal, couple and family goals
  • Understand and appreciate personality differences
