The Combat Trauma Healing Manual: Christ Centered Solutions for Combat Trauma Support Group
“Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.” Psalm 71:20
The purpose of this group is to provide support and information for combat veterans with the use of the book: The Combat Trauma Manual by Reverend Chris Adsit. Many combat veterans struggle with trying to make sense of what happened to their sense of who they are mentally, spiritually, and emotionally once they are back home. Based on the understanding that Jesus provides us with true healing, veterans learn to understand their trauma and how it has affected them; learn to use spiritual practices to build their relationship with God; express and understand grief; begin the process of forgiveness; understand who you truly are in Christ; strengthen your spiritual armor against the enemy; reconnect with others who provide support; learn how to find your new place in society.

The development and practice of positive social and decision making skills is emphasized and reinforced. Showing CARE and RESPECT is the foundational principle of our interactions together and is practiced by means of sharing positive and negative life experiences, active listening, and positive encouragement and problem solving.

Out of the Shadows: A Therapy Group for Children of Incarcerated Parents
(age 6-12 years)
Research has pointed out that children of incarcerated parents are a highly overlooked population and are six times more likely to end up in jail than their peers. The overarching purpose of this group is to put an end to the problem of inter-generational incarceration by specifically addressing the unique challenges that these children face on a daily basis. This group is designed to help children of incarcerated parents effectively manage and overcome feelings of depression and anxiety and learn new skills that include the importance of trust in relationships, the value of making right choices, the art of forgiving others, maintaining a positive outlook on life and most importantly identifying, creatively expressing, and working through the stigma and feelings associated with having a parent in jail. Our goal is to instill hope and healing in the mind, body, soul and spirit of each child, to and usher them "out of the shadows" into a place of new found hope.
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:19

Post-Abortion Therapy Group for Women
This group is designed for women who have had an earlier abortion and are coping with grief.
Facilitated by: Dr. Lillie Epps
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24
The purpose of this group is to provide support and information to wives of combat veterans through study and discussion of the book “When War Comes Home: Christ Centered Healing for Wives of Combat Veterans” by Chris and Rahnella Adsit, and Marshele Carter Waddell. Many wives of combat veterans struggle with changes that occur to their husbands and families once that veteran comes home. Once their husband comes home, they may wonder, “who is this man, and where is my husband?” In fact, they may even feel as if they have been through a traumatic experience themselves. Through discussions about the book and real life examples shared in group, wives learn to better understand what has happened to their husbands emotionally, spiritually, and mentally; learn how this may be affecting her; learn about grief and loss issues; develop her own place of healing and support system; establish a closer relationship with the Lord and ground her sense of self in this relationship; learn how to best help her children; and come to terms with what is “normal” now.
