Dr. Don Walker, Ph.D.
Dr. Donald Walker is a clinical child psychologist and co-editor of a forthcoming book from APA entitled Spiritually-Oriented Trauma Psychotherapy. He has previously taught graduate courses in trauma and the integration of psychology and spirituality, and cognitive behavior therapy. In his clinical practice, he specializes in using trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy with children who have been victims of childhood abuse. He has previously worked in both community settings and in Christian private practices. A graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, Dr. Walker holds a PhD in clinical psychology as well as a Master of Arts in Theology. He teaches in the APA-accredited PsyD program at Regent University, where he also supervises student trainees. His research focuses on changes in religious and spiritual faith in recovery from childhood abuse. He leads the Child Trauma Research Team at Regent, and frequently publishes in scholarly outlets and presents at national conferences. Dr. Walker is co-editor of a forthcoming volume from the American Psychological Association entitled Spiritually-Oriented Trauma Psychotherapy. He has published extensively in the area of spiritual interventions, most recently in the area of trauma-focused psychotherapy with children and adolescents. He received a PhD in clinical psychology as well as a Master of Arts in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. He teaches the Psychology of Trauma and Crisis in the PsyD program at Regent University. He has previously taught courses involving the integration of psychotherapy and spirituality, as well as child and adolescent psychotherapy. |
